Policies & Information for Instructors
Policies for Testing Candidates
- Only testing aides that are approved by your instructor in written directions to the testing center will be allowed.
- Personal items like backpacks, purses, wallets, jackets, papers and keys are not allowed in testing rooms.
- Cell phones, watches, activity trackers and other electronic devices are not allowed in testing rooms.
- Store personal items in lockers in the Testing Center lobby. Olympic College and the Testing Center are not responsible for items left in storage.
- Eating, drinking, smoking and vaping are not allowed in testing rooms.
- The Testing Center is fragrance-free. Please refrain from using cologne, perfume, essential oils and other scented products before entering the Testing Center. This is for the health, safety and comfort of people with asthma, allergies and chemical sensitivity.
- Break policies and access to items in storage during breaks are set by the exam sponsor. When a break policy is not specified by the exam sponsor, the following rules apply:
- Leaving the testing room is not allowed unless approved through Student Disability Services for those with an approved testing accommodation.
- Students on approved breaks may not leave the building and must stay in proximity to the Testing Center.
- Access to items in storage is not allowed unless for a health emergency, such as to take medication or eat food.
- Exceptions for pre-approval of restroom breaks can be granted for students with an approved testing accommodation issued by Student Disability Services.
- Students are responsible for arriving in time to complete testing and check out before instructor-enforced deadlines. Students must complete their test before the Testing Center's posted closing time.
- Only the student is allowed in testing rooms. Children cannot be left unattended in the lobby or hall while a student is testing. See Olympic College’s Children on Campus Policy.
- Olympic College students must sign a statement that they understand these policies before they can test for Olympic College Instructors. Other testing services require candidates to sign exam rules agreement forms.
Policies & Information for Instructors
Forms
A Testing Support Form must accompany all test materials and must be fully completed to include: time limit, materials allowed, return preference, deadline and any other instructions. Avoid delays by including the completed form.
Contact Assessment & Testing Services to receive a copy of the Testing Support Form.
Testing Appointments
- Appointments are required on all campus testing centers for make-up and accessible testing for students with an approved accommodation through Student Disability Services. Schedule testing by emailing ahead.
- All Access testing is by appointment. Students approved by Student Disability Services for testing accommodations will contact the testing center to schedule an appointment by email to @email. A Testing Support Form will be sent to the faculty member, who will complete the form, attach the test materials and return the form to the testing center before the student’s appointment.
Delivery and Return of Testing Materials
- Test materials may be delivered to the Testing Center by email, campus mail, fax or in person. The Bremerton Testing Center also has an after-hours drop box in the hallway outside Bldg. 4, Rm. 222 that is checked once each morning before the center opens for testing. Olympic College testing materials can only be returned to instructors by campus mail or in-person pick-up, not U.S. mail, fax or email.
Lead Time Required
Please allow ample time for processing testing materials. Only the Bremerton Testing Center is staffed five days a week, and although this office can process same-day make-up testing requests, the staff requests you allow some lead time before the student’s planned arrival for testing.
Printing services
- Color Copies: Route all color copying requests through Duplicating Services and request delivery to the Testing Center.
- Page Volume: If test materials will require multiple copies for a list of several students, or if test materials are more than 10 pages, allow additional time for printing and campus mail delivery.
- Printing Default: The default for emailed tests will be double-sided documents. If you need single-sided printing, route your request to Duplicating and request delivery to the test center.
