Transfer Credit Evaluation

Olympic College subscribes to the statewide policy on Inter-College Transfer and Articulation amongst Washington public colleges and universities. Courses accepted in transfer must be essentially equivalent in academic level and content to coursework offered at OC.

Transcript Evaluation is for transcripts from other colleges or universities, Joint Service Transcripts (JST), all military service, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST).

Olympic College utilizes Transfer Evaluation System (TES) as a source of comparing course descriptions from other schools courses with Olympic College’s courses. Course equivalencies are created on a daily basis. We also utilize the school’s website for any further course evaluations.

Student status will determine eligibility to process the transfer credit evaluation request.

• New Students: Requests will be processed after tenth instructional day of the term you are enrolled, and when both request and official transcripts are received by Registration & Records.
• Continuing and Former Students: Requests are processed and placed in the evaluation processing queue after all official transcripts are received by Registration & Records, as well as a Transcript Evaluation Request form.

Request OFFICIAL transcripts to be sent directly from the issuing institution to Olympic College.

Olympic College cannot request official transcripts on the student’s behalf.  Official transcripts from other institutions should be requested through the institution’s websites.

Transcripts become property of Olympic College and cannot be returned of forwarded once submitted.

• Via Electronic Version: Official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution. Email recipient: @email

Students who have attended colleges/universities outside the U.S. must have their transcripts evaluated by a Foreign Credential Evaluation service.

All transcripts must be submitted in English. Special procedures are required for international universities with the exception of those located in U.S. territories. 

Follow these steps to obtain a Foreign Credential Evaluation:

1. Select an evaluation service listed below. Consult their website for documentation requirements.
2. Request a course-by-course evaluation for academic purposes.

3. Request Official Foreign Credential Evaluations be mailed directly to: 
   Olympic College, Registration & Records
   1600 Chester Avenue
   Bremerton, WA 98337-1699

   OR if the foreign credential evaluation service can be sent electronically, the sending institution would use @email as the recipient.

4. Submit at least the unofficial transcript from college/universities taken outside of the U.S. This is used to compare the student’s actual transcript with the foreign evaluation.  This can be sent via one of the following methods below:

Transfer Credit Evaluation completion could take up to eight weeks after receiving all documents. Once the evaluation is complete, an email notification will be sent out.  

Important information is sent regarding student specific transfer credit evaluation, including the explanation of transfer credits. It is the student’s responsibility to read the next steps. Transfer credits will show up in ctcLink Student Homepage in Academic Records tile, or an Academic Advisement Report in Academic Progress tile.

For non-specific courses, the below course number placeholders are used.

Olympic College will award academic credit for military training. The academic credit awarded for prior military training must be granted only for training that is applicable to the student’s certificate or degree requirements. For more info, read the full policy.
