About WorkFirst
Our program provides financial assistance to WorkFirst participants attending Olympic College while receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits from Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). A Quarterly Referral from DSHS to Olympic College is required to engage in education and training activities. The primary services we offer include:
- Financial assistance towards tuition, fees, books, and support services.
- Work-Study: Combining learning and work
- Educational support related to Professional-Technical programs, Transitional Studies offerings, associate degrees such as AAS, AAS-T, AA-DTA, as well as bachelors programs.

Eligibility & Program Info
Eligibility
- Referred for education and training by DSHS or other WorkFirst Program partner agency.
- No credit hour requirements.
- Receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF benefits). Student may meet their work requirements for DSHS with Work-Study. This will not reduce your cash assistance grant, though it may impact any food assistance your receive.
Maximum allowable work hours for Work-Study are 19 hours per week.
