Overview

The Veteran & Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (VL-BSN) program is designed for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Veterans with military healthcare experience who have multiple roles with work, family and school. Courses are offered in a hybrid format, blending online learning and in-person interaction. The program supports veteran and LPN students to successfully enroll and graduate with your BSN, and pass the National Council Licensing Exam, opening access to new employment opportunities in high demand Registered Nurse jobs.

Eligibility & Application Process

Who is eligible to apply?

LPNs with an active WA state license, and current or former honorably discharged military medics who have successfully completed the US Air Force Course L8AQJ4N031 01AA (4NOX1) and US Air Force skill level 5 as well as additional courses to meet the minimum competency to be eligible to sit for the Practical Nurse - National Council Licensure Examination (PN-NCLEX) or the US Army Practical Nursing Specialist. We are working on developing admission criteria for Navy corpsmen applicants in the future.

NCLEX-RN Pass Rates

National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) Pass Rates

Level of Achievement (LOA): The VL-BSN pathway's 3-year mean* for the NCLEX-RN first-time exam pass rate will be at or above the national mean for the same three-year period. 

2023: 93% (first-time test takers); 100% (second-time test takers)

*The first three-year mean will be available with the 2024-2026 cohort.
