Keyboarding Proficiency Tests
Virtual Appointment
Prior to your test, you will receive two emails from Test Genius. The first provides information to register online. The second will notify you that a test has been assigned to you. Please note that the test may show a start time different than what we have assigned you. Do not take the test early. Allow up to thirty minutes for the test. If you must take a break during the test, you will be asked to reschedule.
To take the test, you will need the following:
- A webcam or phone camera
- Some form of photo identification
At your test time, please join the video appointment via Handshake. Unsure of how to use this function? Review Handshake's article on Attending Virtual Appointments.
The test administrator will ask to see your proof of identity. You will then log into Test Genius and begin your test. You must leave the webcam on for the entirety of the test.
Please read all Test Genius directions carefully before starting. You will launch a three-minute practice test before the five-minute typing test.
If your scores do not meet the standards set by your instructor or employer, you will have to schedule to take the test on another day.
If you are satisfied with your results, we will send you a certificate via email shortly after the test.
In Person Appointment
The Career Center is located in Bldg. 4, Rm. 203. Upon arrival, Career Center staff will assist you with preparing for your test. There is a 3-minute practice test before the actual 5-minute test. If you are satisfied with your results, we will create a certificate displaying your score, for your use. You can return to take the test another day, but you must pay the $10 fee again (if applicable to you).
