Overview

The Construction Trades Certificate of Completion program, located at our Shelton Campus, prepares you for a career in the residential and light construction industry as a carpenter’s helper, construction laborer, and construction apprentice in local carpenters’ and laborers’ unions. The program teaches you safe and proper use of hand and power tools, personal protective equipment, worksite and job safety, foundation layout and framing, wall, floor, and roof framing, and interior and exterior finishing techniques used in the construction industry.

Skilled construction workers and carpenters are in demand. This 44-credit Certificate of Completion (CC) will prepare you to thrive in this fast-growing field. Gain hands-on experience and learn skills such as reading building prints and plans, foundation and floor framing, wall and roof framing, interior and exterior finishing, and stairway design and construction.

Students in the Construction Trades may be eligible to receive financial aid. We encourage all students to submit the FAFSA. 

Another potential funding source it the Worker Retraining grant, which pays up to $4,000 to students looking to start a new career.

Every student is assigned an advising team consisting of your Student Success Coach and Faculty Advisor. Your Faculty Advisor is determined once you decide on your specific academic program.
