Olympic College, the Marvin Williams Recreation Center, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Unite to help Kitsap County High Schoolers Learn about Healthcare Careers

Bremerton, WA - Olympic College, the Marvin Williams Recreation Center, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health are thrilled to host a Healthcare Career Camp this Saturday, April 13, from 10 am - noon at the Marvin Williams Center. Sponsored by the Olympic Community of Health, the event underscores our collective commitment to advancing equity, positively impacting youth, and creating workforce opportunities for individuals in our community.

In response to the critical need for healthcare professionals in Kitsap County and to educate more students on the peninsula, we are proud to share the details of our Healthcare Career Camp initiative. This event aims to build a pipeline of future healthcare professionals while addressing the pressing shortages in various healthcare fields, including primary care, secondary care, and dental care.

We expect over 50 high school-aged students from the Peninsula to participate in the event. They will be given the opportunity to visit dozens of professionals representing an array of healthcare occupations, including nurses, physicians, ultrasound techs, dental hygienists, medical assistants, pharmacists, and many more.

Designed to achieve two significant goals, the Career Camp initiative will focus on establishing and nurturing a pipeline of students successfully completing high school and pursuing secondary education in healthcare fields within Kitsap County. Furthermore, it aims to foster diversity and inclusivity within the healthcare sector by nurturing a pipeline of future healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.

By pooling our resources and expertise, we have the potential to raise high school graduation rates, inspire more students to pursue secondary education and cultivate a diverse pipeline of future healthcare professionals. This initiative represents not only an investment in the future of our community but also a testament to our shared commitment to the well-being of all residents of Kitsap County.

We welcome you to join us at the event as we embark on this inspiring journey to shape the future of healthcare in our community. Your support is invaluable as we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth and the health of our community.
