The Olympic College Cosmetology program is a partnership with West Sound Technical Skills Center. The program is geared for stylists, salon owners and cosmetology instructors.

You'll start the enrollment process like any other Olympic College student: completing an application, getting financial aid, taking math and English placement tests and attending a new student orientation. For more on becoming an Olympic College student visit our Admissions web page:

1Attend a Program Info Session

Students interested in the program must attend one of the quarterly information sessions at the beauty school that includes an overview of the program, tour of the facilities, and meeting the instructor. At that time you can find out about the next enrollment group based on space available.

2Meet With Your Academic Advisor

You'll discuss required core classes (listed below), prerequisites, and any elective courses you may be interested in. Contact Stephen Quinn, Academic Advisor; @email; 360-475-7345.

  • BMGMT, 138, Business Math I, 3 credits
  • BMGMT, 139, Business Math II, 2 credits
  • BSTEC, 145, Bus Writing/Grammar for the Workplace, 5 credits
  • OLRM, 220, Human Relations in the Workplace, 3 credits

Math: BMGMT 140 can be substituted for BMGMT 138 & 139 English: ENGL 101 can be substituted for BSTEC 145.

3Criminal Background Check

Complete a Washington State Patrol Background Check check. For the safety of clients, in line with industry standards, anyone whose report shows crimes against people is ineligible for the program. Print one copy for yourself and one copy for the school.

4Register for Classes

Register at any Olympic College campus during new student or open registration days.

5Pay Tuition & Fees

Once you've gotten to this stage of enrollment, you're ready to pay tuition and fees. Registration is not complete until tuition and fees are paid or payment arrangements are recorded by the Cashier.

6Books & Supplies You'll Need
  • Information on textbooks and online access will be available at orientation once you're enrolled. The approximate cost is $300 (subject to change). Orders are made through West Sound Technical Skills Center.
  • Purchase your equipment kit after you've registered on or before the first day of classes. The approximate price is $600 (subject to change). Kits will be purchased through West Sound Technical Skills Center. Kits are non-refundable. Extra shipping changes may apply if purchased after the first day of classes.
  • Professional attire is expected, and students must be in appropriate dress code to log hours in the program. Dress code includes solid black bottoms, full coverage tops in black, white or gray, and closed toe shoes. No sleeveless tops or hoodies.

State Licensing Info

The Cosmetoloty program is designed to prepare students for successful completion of state licensing exams for both estheticians and instructors. State officials can provide technical assistance on licensing, compliance, safety and sanitation procedures. Email @email.
