What Students Need to Know

High school students, you can take approved College in the High School classes in your high school and earn "dual credit" for both high school and college!

Use your credits at Olympic College or transfer them anywhere. College credits earned as College in the High School credit may transfer as general education requirements, prerequisites, or as elective credits at colleges in or out of the state of Washington.

High school credit is awarded automatically in accordance with your high school's policies. 

Follow the Steps below to enroll in a College in the High School course at your high school.

How to Register for College in the High School Dual Credit

1Find courses at your high school

Ask your counselor if you are unsure how to locate that information. 

NOTE: Currently, OC only offers FILM 285 at Port Townsend High School and MEDA 112, 130, and 162 at West Sound Technical Skills Center.

2Apply Online

Submit an Olympic College Application for Admission. Select “College in the High School” where it asks your enrollment and program plans. Olympic College Outreach staff will visit your high school class to assist with this step.

3Register Online

Register for the class by the enrollment deadline.

NOTE: For the 25-26 academic year, FILM 285 and MEDA 130, and 162 is enrollment deadline is January 16. The enrollment deadline for MEDA 112 is April 17. Olympic College Outreach staff will visit your high school class to assist with this step.

4Read Orientation Materials

OC Outreach staff will provide you an orientation handbook with important information about being a College in the High School student at Olympic College.

5Pass the Class

Complete the course. If you are struggling in the class, talk with your counselor and/or teacher about your options. You can withdraw from the class and receive a “W” on your OC transcript if you do it by the deadline. 

NOTE: For the 25-26 academic year the withdrawal deadline for FILM 285, MEDA 130 and 162 is March 5 and the withdrawal deadline for MEDA 112 is June 4.
