Meet OC's latest students to make the All-Washington Academic Team

Two Olympic College students were selected to join the All-Washington Academic Team, a program that honors the state's finest higher education students. Students who make the team reflect the diversity of the state, maintain high standards of excellence, and contribute positively to the community.

Olympic College students Emma Wallace and Jeff Grant made the team this year, and both students are academic achievers who hope to make a difference in their communities.

Wallace plans to follow her passion for helping children next year by pursuing a degree in Social Work. She has been accepted to Grand Canyon University.

"I am one hundred percent committed," she says. "I cannot wait to learn more about the field and start my career journey while also meeting new people. I hope to use my energy and joy to affect people in a positive way."

Grant is pursing an associate degree in Human Services at OC. While attending school he has worked full-time at a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment facility. Grant's own struggles with Substance Use Disorder fueled his desire to work in the SUD treatment field and aid others on their journey to recovery. He will continue his studies at Western Washington University this fall.

The All-Washington Academic Team program has become the showcase for Washington's community and technical colleges because it honors the academic high achievers, the individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to success in the classroom and in the communities in which they live. This recognition demonstrates the state's commitment to scholarship and community service on the part of those attending the state's public community and technical colleges.
