OVERVIEW

Anthropology can take you anywhere you want to go!  Anthropology seeks to understand diverse cultures and studies the origin, development and behavior of humans throughout time.  Four subfields include archaeology, linguistics, cultural and biological anthropology with new specializations including environmental and medical anthropology.  As a holistic discipline, anthropology embraces both the humanities and sciences. A minor in anthropology fits well with many diverse disciplines such as health care, law, biology, art, education, psychology, and more.

The Yama Project

The OC Archaeology Field School worked with the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum to create the Yama Project; surveying, mapping and partially excavating Nagaya and the Yama village, telling the story of Japanese immigrants working at the booming Port Blakely Mill in the 1880's.
