Olympic College welcomes Mark Hughes to board of trustees

BREMERTON – Olympic College is pleased to announce that Mark Hughes is the newest member to join the Olympic College Board of Trustees.

Mark is a Kitsap native and an OC alumnus. He is the director of marketing for Kitsap Mental Health Services and has more than 25 years of marketing and communications experience, primarily with regional nonprofits. A strong supporter of community initiatives, Mark has helped start, direct and support several organizations that have raised funds for education, health and safety.

Mark graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Economics in 1996, and from OC with an AAS in Business Administration and Management in 1994.

“I’m genuinely excited to work with our other dedicated trustees and leaders of Olympic College in transforming the lives of our students and community,” he said.

OC President Marty Cavalluzzi welcomed Mark to the board while highlighting his extensive background working with various nonprofits in the community.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome Mark, a graduate of OC, back to the college as part of our Board of Trustees,” Cavalluzzi said. “Mark’s extensive professional and volunteer experience in the community will undoubtedly be a huge benefit to the board. We’re eager to draw from his experience as we shape the future of the college.”

Board of Trustees Chair Harriette Bryant expressed eagerness to put Mark’s experience to good use to support the college.

“We are delighted to welcome Mark to the Board of Trustees,” she said. “With his years of dedicated service to community organizations, including past president of The Olympic College Foundation Board of Directors, Mark brings a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to our community. With Mark’s insights and passion, we are poised to enrich our mission and better serve our college community.”

Mark is serving a partial term, effective Sept. 6, 2023 through Sept. 30, 2025.
