Bremerton, Wash. – Olympic College is expanding opportunities for students and strengthening the region's technology workforce with the launch of its new Computer Science Associate Degree, offering a pathway to in-demand careers and continued education in computer science.
Beginning Fall 2026, the program will provide students with a strong foundation in programming, software development, computer systems, and problem-solving through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on learning.
“With this addition, Olympic College is creating a seamless pathway for students to begin their computer science education, earn an associate degree, and continue on to our Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program,” said Staci Snyder, Dean of Business & Information Technology. “Students can achieve their academic and career goals while staying right here in Kitsap County.”
The new degree complements Olympic College's existing Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. In addition, the college's Computer Science and Computer Information Systems programs offer associate degrees and stackable certificates in cybersecurity, technical support, web design and other high-demand fields. Together, these programs provide flexible pathways for students to earn industry-recognized credentials, complete both an associate and bachelor's degree at Olympic College, or transfer to another four-year institution.
By preparing graduates for careers in computer science, the program aims to build a local talent pipeline that supports area employers, strengthens the Kitsap County economy, and creates opportunities for residents to pursue high-wage careers close to home.
“This new program reflects Olympic College's commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers while strengthening our local workforce,” said Olympic College President Chantae Recasner. “It creates more opportunities for students to achieve their goals while supporting the continued growth and success of our community.”
