Olympic College launches new Bachelor’s in Computer Science

News Release for Immediate Release

Bremerton, Wash. – Olympic College is excited to announce the launch of its new Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program, designed to prepare students for high-paying, in-demand careers in technology.

The program received final approval from the State Board for Community & Technical Colleges in March and is now recruiting students for Fall of 2025. Building on the college’s strong foundation of Associate Degree programs in Computer Science and Information Technology, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program provides a seamless pathway for local students to earn a four-year degree in a rapidly growing field—without having to leave Kitsap County.

“With the increasing demand for skilled professionals in artificial intelligence, software engineering, and cybersecurity, this new bachelor’s degree allows students to gain critical knowledge and hands-on experience while staying close to home,” said Olympic College Dean of Business & Information Technology Teresa McDermott.

The program emphasizes AI, cloud computing, data integration, and cybersecurity, equipping students with the skills to develop intelligent systems, analyze big data, and drive technological innovation.

Faculty who helped develop the program highlight its real-world focus. “We designed this program to teach students how to think like problem-solvers and innovators,” said Lindsey Handley, Computer Information Systems Faculty. “Employers want graduates who can adapt, collaborate, and create solutions—and that’s exactly what our students will be prepared to do.”

With small class sizes, hands-on projects, and industry-aligned curriculum, Olympic College continues its commitment to accessing high-quality STEM education in our region. This is Olympic College’s seventh bachelor program as it continues to build its career-focused degree and certificate programs to serve the needs of the Kitsap and Mason County community and businesses.

“Olympic College continues to expand educational opportunities that directly align with workforce needs,” said Olympic College President Marty Cavalluzzi. “The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program ensures that our students can compete for top-tier jobs in technology—right here in Washington.”

Enrollment is now open for Fall, 2025. For more information or to apply, visit the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science webpage.
