Dear Students,
We would like to notify you of delays in processing Financial Aid for the 2026-27 academic year, which includes the Summer 2026 Term.
At the end of April, the Department of Education made a change to the file format in which schools receive their Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) data. This change requires system updates to the technology used to process financial aid, which must come from our product developer and from the State Board for Community & Technical Colleges. Until these updates have been made, Olympic College will not be able to load any FAFSA applications received after April 25, 2026, until mid-June at the earliest. This impacts all community and technical colleges in Washington state.
FAFSA Application Processing Status
If you submitted your FAFSA before April 26, 2026, your application was received and will be processed normally. Please continue to check CTCLink and your email for any notification of incomplete documents that need to be completed to process financial aid.
If you submitted your FAFSA on or after April 26, 2026, your application has been stored but cannot be processed yet. This may delay Summer 2026 financial aid awards.
These changes may also delay the awarding of state aid for Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) filers.
Students should not switch to the WASFA from the FAFSA as this will create additional delays in processing financial aid.
The Financial Aid team is working on solutions for students impacted for Summer quarter.
We anticipate little to no impact for Fall quarter at this time, as the system updates should be in place well before the Fall tuition payment due date.
