Overview

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program is a one-quarter certificate program that prepares students to provide safe, effective basic prehospital emergency care in a variety of field and community settings. Students gain the knowledge, technical skills, and clinical judgment needed to assess, stabilize, and manage patients experiencing medical, traumatic, and behavioral emergencies.

The program includes classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory practice, scenario-based training, and supervised clinical and field experiences. Curriculum content aligns with the 2021 National EMS Education Standards and Washington State Department of Health requirements, with emphasis on airway management, resuscitation, pharmacology, cardiology, trauma care, and team communication.

Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) exam and, upon successful completion, pursue Washington State EMT certification.
