About Worker Retraining
The Worker Retraining Program offers financial support to students who are retraining for a new job or career in a professional technical program. If you're looking for new or upgraded skills or a whole new career, we're looking for you.
Eligible students can receive up to $4,000 in grants that do not have to be paid back.

We may be able to fund your education if you:
- Separated from military in last 4 years
- Qualified for unemployment in last 4 years
- Are a displaced homemaker
- Are self-employed and facing hardship
- Need new skills for a better job
Eligibility & Program Info
Student Eligibility
Worker Retraining applicants must initially meet one of the following criteria to potentially qualify:
- Determined eligible to collect WA state unemployment insurance;
- Currently collecting WA state unemployment insurance;
- Have collected WA state unemployment insurance at any time within the last 48 months;
- Have received notice of intent to layoff from your employer;
- Displaced homemaker;
- (loss of supporting income through divorce, death, spouse layoff, etc.)
- Unsustainably self-employed due to reduction in local economic demand;
- An individual who has been separated from the U.S. armed services in the last 48 months or active duty with an official separation notice and upcoming discharge date;
- An individual who lives/lived or works/worked in one of the counties declared in a disaster area at the time of a disaster and whose employment situation was impacted by the disaster;
- Currently working and needing new or updated skills to remain employed.
