OC staff member Tony Coolidge returned to the homeland of his mother deep in the mist-shrouded mountains of Taiwan after her death in 1996.
Exploring his surroundings, mesmerized by the butterflies, bamboo forests, and waterfalls, Tony discovers that his mother was part of an indigenous tribe known as Atayal, a marginalized tribal group that was in danger of disappearing. What he experienced transformed his sense of identity and drove him to build a legacy to reconnect new generations to their own ancestral heritage.
Come have lunch with us and be prepared to be inspired by one of Olympic College’s very own documentary film makers!
