Bremerton, Wash. – Olympic College President Marty Cavalluzzi announced his retirement from Olympic College effective September 1, 2025. The announcement came during the February 18 Olympic College Board of Trustees meeting.

“Serving as the President of Olympic College has been the greatest honor of my professional career,” said Cavalluzzi. “Although this announcement is unexpected to many, I am confident the college is in a strong position to continue moving forward as it works to fulfill its mission of student success.”
Cavalluzzi was hired by the Board of Trustees and began his tenure as president in February 2018. He oversaw college leadership and operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including the transition to predominantly online learning and services. Since the pandemic, Olympic College has achieved ten consecutive quarters of enrollment growth, including a 14% increase during the first two quarters of the 2024 – 25 academic year, ranking among the top five of all community and technical colleges in Washington.
“The Board of Trustees thanks Marty for his leadership during what was a challenging time for the entire nation,” Board Chair Harriette Bryant said.
“Marty has devoted the majority of his 38-year career to higher education leadership and has left a lasting impact on Olympic College and the state of Washington.”
Cavalluzzi’s career in higher education includes roles as the Dean of Science and Math at Seattle Central Community College, Vice President of Instruction and Chief Academic Officer at Edmonds Community College, and President at Pierce College Puyallup.
Cavalluzzi is the 15th president of Olympic College. His tenure included the implementation of a participatory governance system and the addition of several new academic programs, including the recently launched Corpsman/Medic to Practical Nurse and Phlebotomy programs, which are part of a project to expand healthcare programs at Olympic College. Other accomplishments achieved during his tenure include:
- Joined the Achieving the Dream Network, 2018
- Implementation of New Academic Programs
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pathway for Veterans
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Behavioral Healthcare
- Construction Trades Certificate Program Shelton Campus
- Shops Building Renovation
- $8.5 million in public/private funding to expand healthcare programs.
The Board of Trustees has not announced transition plans or identified a successor.
