Workshop Description: In this two-day intensive program, you'll receive a comprehensive introduction to the art and technical aspects of film and television lighting and rigging. Through hands-on experience, you'll familiarize yourself with the essential equipment used to light scenes and support camera work, both indoors and outdoors. You’ll master a variety of tools and techniques, develop a solid set vocabulary, and acquire industry tips for not only securing the job but also ensuring you’re invited back.
The program covers light and color metering, introduces the basics of remote light control via Bluetooth, and goes beyond with an introduction to wireless DMX control over Wi-Fi. Working in teams that mirror real-world G&E crews, you’ll light two distinct scenes: one in a narrative style and another in a corporate documentary interview style.
You will also gain a thorough understanding of essential safety protocols, diffusion techniques, flags, nets, stands, camera and light rigging, truck-based operations, knots, adapters, camera rigs, dollies, jibs, and other key industry tools, equipping you with a comprehensive foundation in lighting and rigging for film and TV production.
