State Grant Aid Repayment Policy

State Grant Return Policy

State grant aid includes the Washington College Grant, College Bound Scholarship, WCG-Connect, and Passport to College Promise.

Your state grant award amount is determined by your income as reported on your FAFSA or WASFA and your enrollment intensity as of the census date. This means your award is set based on how many credits you are enrolled in at census – not at the start of the term.

To keep any portion of your state grant aid for a term, you must attend through the census date in at least one class. If you withdraw from all classes before census, or never attend, you are not eligible for state grant aid for that term and the full award must be returned.

Your state grant eligibility is also affected by changes to your Cost of Attendance (COA). Your COA is calculated based on your enrollment across the full aid year. If your enrollment changes – for example, if you were full-time one term but do not enroll in a subsequent term – your COA will decrease and your unmet need may be reduced. This could result in a reduction or repayment of state grant funds already disbursed, even if you attended through census in the term you received them. It is your responsibility to understand how changes to your enrollment across the aid year may affect your state grant eligibility.

State grant repayment is your responsibility if it results from incorrect information you provided, failure to attend through census, failure to attend all classes on which your award was based, or changes to your enrollment that reduce your COA and unmet need.

For details about the award requirements and conditions, please refer to the WASC website.

Students who owe a state grant repayment will be notified by the Financial Aid Office. Repayments are made directly to University Accounting Services at 844-870-8701, not to Olympic College.
