Students who have completed an AAS-T in Human Services/Substance Use Disorder are given priority consideration when applying to the BAS-BH Program. This pathway provides deeper, field specific preparation and aligns more closely with the competencies expected for upper division BAS-BH coursework.
Students pursuing a DTA should be aware that completing HS 113: Individual Counseling and HS 114: Group Counseling after admission is not the ideal route; applicants with more extensive foundational knowledge in the field will be more competitive when all other factors are equal.
OC offers a variety of programs to prepare students for current practices in Human Services and Substance Use Disorder treatment. Consider taking specific classes as distribution requirements and electives that lead to your Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), Associate of Arts Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA), Associate in Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T), Associate in Technical Arts (ATA), Certificate of Completion (CC), Certificate of Proficiency (CP), or Certificate of Completion (CC) Fast Track.
Every student is assigned an advising team consisting of your Student Success Coach and Faculty Advisor. Your Faculty Advisor is determined once you decide on your specific academic program.
