Academic Programs

Olympic College Cosmetology and Esthetics programs will prepare you to successfully complete the Washington state Cosmetology, Esthetics or Instructor licensing exams. Programs offered through a joint agreement with West Sound Technical Skills Center include: an Associate in Technical Arts (ATA), a Certificate of Completion (CC), Certificate of Proficiency (CP) and Certificate of Recognition (CR).

Licensure Requirements

Cosmetology and/or Esthetics

School Graduate

To get your license as a cosmetologist, or esthetician you must:

  • Be at least 17 years of age.
  • Graduate from a school approved and licensed by the Department of Licensing with the minimum required state hours.
    • Cosmetologist: 1,600 hours

Or

  • Esthetics: 750 hours
    • Complete all given class and/or online assignments, assessments, quizzes or tests
    • Pass the state-approved practical and written exams administered by D.L. Roope.

Professional Licensure Disclosure

Olympic College has determined that the Cosmetology and Esthetics curriculum meets educational requirements for licensure/certification in Washington state. OC has not made a determination that the curriculum meets educational requirements for licensure/certification outside of Washington state. We encourage students who plan to work out-of-state to check relevant local licensure/certification requirements.

Every student is assigned an advising team consisting of your Student Success Coach and Faculty Advisor. Your Faculty Advisor is determined once you decide on your specific academic program. The following instructors are the advisors for Cosmetology & Esthetics.
