Keyboarding Proficiency Tests

Prior to your test, you will receive two emails from Test Genius. 

1. The first email provides information to register online. 
2. The second email will notify you that a test has been assigned to you. 

Please note that the test may show a start time different than what we have assigned you. Do not take the test early. Allow up to thirty minutes for the test. If you must take a break during the test, you will be asked to reschedule.

To take the test, you will need the following:

• A webcam or phone camera
• Some form of photo identification

The test administrator will ask to see your proof of identity. You will then log into Test Genius and begin your test. You must leave the webcam on for the entirety of the test.

Please read all Test Genius directions carefully before starting. You’ll begin with a 3-minute practice test, followed by the official 5-minute test.

If you are satisfied with your results, we will email a certificate displaying your score for your use. If your scores do not meet the standards set by your instructor or employer, you can schedule to take the test another day, but you must pay the $10 fee again - if you are not a current OC student. 

Test Preparation & Location Information
The Career Center is located in Bldg. 4, Rm. 204. Upon arrival, our staff will assist you in preparing for your test. You’ll begin with a 3-minute practice test, followed by the official 5-minute test.
