Workforce Grants

To be considered for funding that begins at the start of the next academic year, faculty and staff need to submit an application within the first two (2) months of the calendar year (between January 1st and February 28th, each year). 

Yes. The Workforce and Economic Development Department accepts applications on a rolling basis (e.g. anytime). Applications received outside of the typical application window (first two months of the calendar year for funding that begins at the start of the academic year) are considered as funds are raised or become available. Applications are not funded on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis and are ranked in order of need as determined by the Workforce and Economic Development Department. 

You will know if your funding is approved because you will get an email notification from the Workforce and Economic Development department. Additionally, you will be added to a ‘Workforce Grants’ MS Team.  

You can start spending at the beginning of the new fiscal year (July 1st).  

We will share your budget code via MS Teams. You will be added to the Workforce Grants Team between July 1-July 15th. You can start to execute the spending detailed in your approved application once you have your budget code.

Permission from the Workforce and Economic Development Department is required prior to any adjustment in spending that differs from the approved application.

We will discuss the opportunity and learn if the Workforce and Economic Development department is able to assist and support your efforts to submit an application for funding outside of what is made available by the State Board.  

It depends. If you apply during the first two (2) months of the calendar year, your request will be considered by the Workforce Grants Allocation Committee. The Committee is comprised of the Leadership Team of the Workforce and Economic Development Department, in addition to leaders across campus from divisions and departments that do not request funding from the Workforce and Economic Development Department. If you submit a application outside of this timeframe, your application will be considered ty the Leadership Team of the Workforce and Economic Development Department.  

The Workforce and Economic Development Department may provide partial funding based on the availability of funds.

You are required to report to the Workforce and Economic Development department related to the funding request that was approved through a Report of Accomplishment. This report form can be completed via an MS Form or a fillable PDF that was emailed to you and is accessible in the MS Workforce Grant team private channel related to your request.
