The Olympic College Cosmetology & Esthetics program is a partnership with West Sound Technical Skills Center. The program provides focused training geared for cosmetologists and estheticians, including hair stylists, barbers, skin care clinicians, manicurists and pedicurists, and cosmetology and esthetics instructors.

You'll start the enrollment process like any other Olympic College student by completing the college admissions steps, including completing an application, getting financial aid, establishing your English and math starting points, and attending a new student orientation. Steps to Enroll in Cosmetology & Esthetics

1Contact Instructor for Admissions Info

Students interested in the program must email the instructor who will send information regarding enrollment, waitlists and kit costs. This also includes an overview of the program, students may also schedule a tour of the facilities, and meet the instructor. At that time, you will also be advised of the next enrollment date based on space available.

2Meet with a Student Success Coach

You’ll discuss pre-requisites and any elective courses you may be interested in. Your Success Coach can refer you where to Apply for Financial Aid or alternative funding. Visit the Advising webpage to schedule an appointment.

3Criminal Background Check

Complete a Washington State Patrol Background Check. For the safety of clients, in line with industry standards, anyone whose report shows crimes against people is ineligible for the program. Print one copy for yourself and one copy for the school. A copy of the actual report must be delivered by hand or emailed to the instructor prior to the start of classes.

4Register for Classes

Students will be contacted by the instructor prior to registration dates and must respond and confirm enrollment in a reasonable time. The instructor will then register students directly into the correct classes.

5Pay Tuition & Fees

Once you've gotten to this stage of enrollment, you're ready to pay tuition and fees. Registration is not complete until tuition and fees are paid or payment arrangements are recorded by the Cashier. Visit the Cashier's Office webpage for more info.

6Books & Supplies You'll Need
  • Textbooks and online access will be available once you're up for enrollment. The approximate cost is $195 (subject to change). Orders are made through West Sound Technical Skills Center and must be purchased by the first day of class.

  • Student kits are purchased directly from the West Sound Technical Skills Center bookkeeper. The cost is $925 (subject to change). Kits are non‐refundable. Extra shipping charges may apply if purchased after the first week of classes.

  • The mandatory dress code includes a black scrub top, black scrub bottom and closed-toe shoes, any color shoes. Students may wear a long sleeve shirt under the scrub top in any color. Hoodies and yoga pants anr not allowed. Uniforms may be purchased wherever available. Students must be in uniform to log hours in the program beginning the first day of class. Students not in uniform will not log hours and will be sent home.

  • Internet connection (DSL, LAN, or cable connection desirable)
  • Computer or laptop computer (smartphones and tablets do not always log hours)
  • Access to Canvas, the college online Learning Management System
  • Word processing program such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs
  • Access to Cengage/CIMA (our online book/workbook purchased first day of class)
  • Access to Remind (our class messaging system)
  • Non-Latex gloves, facial mask, hand sanitizer (replaced as needed)
  • Two three-ring binders with page dividers
  • Index cards (approximately 905 total)
  • Pens, pencils, paper as needed

The Cosmetology & Esthetics program is designed to prepare students for successful completion of state licensing exams for both practitioners and instructors. State officials can provide technical assistance on licensing, compliance, safety and sanitation procedures. Email @email.
