Yoga: In this Hatha Yoga class we'll work through basic postures using principles of proper alignment, breathing and mindfulness. Postures will be connected by the breath in a slow flow. Restful postures will be introduced using props. All props are provided, including mats. You are invited to bring your own if you prefer. These classes are open to beginners as well as those with some yoga experience. Make sure to wear athletic clothing that will allow you to move freely. Bring water to stay hydrated.
Class capped at 25. Day of preferences will go to those who sign up in advance.
Core “Education”: Come learn why the trunk of the body, commonly known as the core muscles, is so important to your everyday life. The class will balance education of the importance of core muscles with working those same muscles to increase strength and balance. Make sure to wear athletic shoes and athletic clothing that will allow you to move freely. Bring water to stay hydrated. A towel to wipe off sweat is also recommended.
Class capped at 30. Day of preferences will go to those who sign up in advance.
Dodgeball Tournament: Get a team together and compete against other OC teams in the annual dodgeball tournament! Dodgeball is a game in which players on two teams try to throw balls at each other while avoiding being hit themselves. The main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball thrown by a member of the opposing team, or forcing them to move outside the court boundaries when a ball is thrown at them. Make sure to wear good quality athletic shoes and athletic clothing that will allow you to move freely.
Broom Hockey: Broom hockey is a different way to play hockey, but it is just as exciting. The goal is to hit the ball into the goal with the broom. Make sure to wear good quality athletic shoes and athletic clothing that will allow you to move freely. No team sign up necessary—after you sign up online, event organizers will randomly assign and rotate teams during the event.
Walk or Run Routes: Walk or run around campus to earn miles and increase fitness levels. Check out a pedometer from various locations (sign up to receive locations) on all three campuses or use your own to track your mileage. Make sure to check out at the appropriate location in order to officially record your mileage.
Closing Ceremony: Come see who earned the highest number of miles and which country takes home the country prize!! If you earned a medal, this is the place to pick it up. You can even stand on our podium for a picture!
How do I earn medals?
All OC students and staff can earn individual medals. All you need to do is SIGN UP then participant in various events or wellness activities. Each time you participate you earn mileage. More specific information will be sent to you prior to day 1 of the competition, which is February 1st.
