Olympic College Athletics Hall of Fame

06 Tuesday December

Olympic College Athletics is creating a new Hall of Fame.  The first class will be inducted June 10th, 2017, at a banquet to be held on the Olympic College campus.

"It's long overdue," Athletic Director Barry Janusch states, "We have such a rich tradition. The school's been around 70 years and we want to acknowledge some of the great student athletes, coaches and teams who have come through Olympic College."  The college's athletic department began with the first day of class at Olympic Junior College on September 5, 1946.  It is one of the founding members of the Washington State Junior College Athletic Conference, now known as the Northwest Athletic Conference.

Many community members will know names such as Phil Pesco, Joni Slagle, and and Mark Keel.  The tradition at OC Athletics is long and distinguished and that is the goal of this event--to recognize and commemorate all those who came before and developed the rich Ranger tradition.

The banquet will also recognize current team MVP's and athletes of the year.  "I think by recognizing the past athletes, teams and coaches, it's good for our current athletes because a lot of them don't know about some of the great things that have happened in the past," Janusch said. "Someday, maybe some of the things they accomplish will be recognized."

More information, including nomination forms and criteria, can be found here.  Ticket information will be posted closer to the event.

Mark your calendar for June 10th and come help us celebrate 70 years of athletics at Olympic College!
