Medical Insurance Requirement

As of Fall Quarter 2016, Firebird International Insurance Group (FIIG) is our school-contracted insurance agency. 

Coverage Duration for Each Quarter

For first time new international students, coverage begins the moment they get off the plane in the United States or 30 days before the first day of orientation. 

For continuing international students and transferring in international students, please refer to the dates below for your coverage information.

Fall 2016:  September 12, 2016 to December 26, 2016
Winter 2017:  December 27, 2016 to March 26, 2017
Spring 2017:  March 27, 2017 to June 25, 2017
Summer 2017:  June 26, 2017 to September 9, 2017

How Much Does the Insurance Cost?

The insurance charge for the 2016-17 school year is $366 per quarter (3 months). Health insurance will be automatically added to the student's registration records upon arriving on campus. The payment is due by the end of first week in each quarter. Students are required to pay for summer coverage in advance in spring quarter even if they are not taking summer class(es), to avoid interruption of coverage. Continuing students can use their insurance in the United States and foreign countries during their vacation including students' home country.

For students who wish to be waived from the Firebird Insurance, please see the information below to obtain approval from Office of International Education, prior to a quarter start date.

  • Have own insurance with an equivalent or more coverage than the Firebird Insurance plan provides. Please click here for the coverage information.
  • Submit the selected insurance coverage information in English by the first day of each quarter. 
  • Approval must be obtained each quarter.
