Danny Haas enters his second year as OC softball coach. An alum of the United States Naval Academy and the University of Washington, Haas has recently retired from the Federal Government after spending over 30 years managing civilian training at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He was the Navy Corporate Training Manager responsible for all civilian training provided by all public shipyards across the United States.

In 1995 Haas received the Naval Association Superintendent of the Year and Civilian Manager of the Year, plus the Naval Civilian Meritorious Achievement Award in 1996 and 2001.

Haas is no stranger to Olympic College. He taught as an adjunct faculty member almost 20 years at OC in a variety of subjects which included Math and English.

Haas bases his personal and professional life around the principles of motivation and goal setting. He is certified by the Edge Learning Institiute to teach human effectiveness. Haas's coaching philosophy is simple - he will push his team to compete to the highest level, but academic achievement and positive personal growth are paramount.

As a softball coach, Haas was a coach with the Diamond Dusters and Northwest Sidewinders for 15 years. Two of his teams won state and regional championships, and five participated in National Tournaments. Haas has two daughters who both played softball and were recruited by NCAA Division I programs. His oldest daugher Lauren attended Southern Illinois University where she played in three NCAA tournaments and was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection. In 2008 she was named Player of the Year.
