The Northstar Digital Literacy Certificate program is a set of free, self-guided online assessments that show your ability to perform basic computer tasks. Assessments are available in many areas, including:

  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Email
  • Google Docs
  • Information Literacy
  • Internet Basics
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Social Media
  • Supporting K-12 Distance Learning
  • Windows and Mac

Earning a certificate is free and available to anyone who needs to improve or show their computer skills.

  1. Fill out this form to request a Learner Account via Olympic College.
    1. ​If you don’t have an email account, please create one. An email is needed to retain certificates, information, test assessments, etc. If you need help with creating an email, please contact the Career Center or Transitional Studies Office.
  2. An email invitation from Northstar Online Learning will be sent to the email you provided. Follow the directions in the invitation email to create your own Northstar Online Learning User Account. 
  3. When you have your password, log in to Northstar Online Learning.
  4. Browse the topics and click "Take Assessment" when you're ready to be tested on the topic, or click "Lessons" to learn about the topic.

  5. If you would like your test to be proctored to receive a certificate of completion, please make a virtual appointment via Handshake
    1. Non-students may email the Career Center directly for an appointment.
