Our Mission

Through responsive services, the Entry Advising Center provides assessment, testing, advising and resources to promote student engagement and life-long learning.

Our Advising Philosophy

The entry advising program at OC provides students with the tools needed to begin developing an appropriate educational plan that aligns with students' educational goals, and support for progressing toward those goals.

The college's entry advising program is based on the following assumptions:

  • Entry advising is an integral beginning of a comprehensive student success program;
  • Student/Advisor interaction is an important factor in student success, and educational advising provides for such interaction;
  • The college is responsible for providing varied approaches to advising that serve the diverse learning styles and;
  • The individual student is responsible for his/her educational and life decisions
