Faculty and other OC employees: Contact the OC Bookstore to order regalia. The College underwrites the complete cost of renting the academic regalia for those participating in the procession (faculty, administrators, and staff).

Faculty Regalia

Full and part-time faculty, administrators and staff are invited to walk in the procession, the recession and sit in a reserved area at commencement. Academic regalia is requested.

The significance of the costume is indicated especially by the sleeves and hoods. The Bachelor gown has pointed sleeves; the Master's gown has long, closed sleeves, the Doctorate gown has bell-shaped sleeves and velvet trimming. The Bachelor hood is three feet in length; the Master's hood is three and one-half feet; the Doctorate hood is four feet.

Hoods are lined with color or colors of the institution from which the individual received his or her degree. The colored velvet border of the hood, which is two-inches, three-inches, and five-inches wide for the Bachelor, Master's, and Doctorate degree respectively, indicates the faculty or field to which the degree pertains.
