Representatives from VetCorps and Olympic College will be available in the Career Services Office at the OC Shelton Campus. They will be there to assist active duty military, veterans, and family members with general Information, referrals, support, community resources, GI Bill Information, and other veteran service issues.
Wed 5/8 Mental Health Awareness + PTSD Info, 11:00 AM — 1:00 PM @BSC
For Mental Health Awareness Month, Kitsap Mental Health Services will be available for a public conversation on Mental Health and PTSD.
Sat 5/11 Military Culinary Arts Competition, 10:00 AM — 2:00 PM @BSC
The Armed Forces Club will compete against Military Culinary Specialists from around the region in the Chili Cook Off. The event also hosts competitions for cakes, pies, and chicken wings.
Wed 5/15 Quince de Mayo Potluck, 12:00 — 1:30 PM
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo a little late with a potluck in the center. Bring your favorite Mexican themed dishes to celebrate Mexican heritage.
Sat 5/18 Armed Forces Day Parade, 9:00 AM
The nation’s largest and longest running Armed Forces Day Parade is upon us. The staging area will be in the visitors parking area at Olympic College. If you’re interested in walking in the parade, talk to the staff in the center.
Tues 5/21 OC’s Tribute to Veterans, 11:00 AM — 1:00 PM @Pi Square
OC will pay tribute to Veteran students with an awards ceremony in Pi Square (in front of the HSS building) and free food for veterans in the BSC.
Thurs 5/23 Mason County Stand Down, 8:00 AM — 12:00 PM, @St. Edward's Catholic Church, 601 West C St, Shelton WA
Volunteers will be available to help veterans enroll in and collect VA benefits and services. Clothes, hygiene items, and other services will also be available. A Job fair will be held in the afternoon from 1:00 --4:00 PM.
