Running Start News
New - Students Must Complete New Steps Prior to Fall Quarter Important
New State Bill (ESHB 1087) affects Running Start processes. New steps have been added.
- Meet with you high school counselor to complete the Running Start Verification Form
- Submit this form to the Running Start office before the start of your first Fall class begins.
New Registration Process
All schedule changes must be approved by the Running Start office. Registration using OASIS online is no longer available. OASIS may still be used for all other functions.
Impact of New Senate Bill to Running Start Students
The new bill limits the amount of classes your student will be able to take between the high school and college. Running Start will cover up to 15 credits per quarter as long as your student is not taking more than one class as the high school. Students who choose to take more than 15 credits per quarter will be responsible for tuition that exceeds 15 credits.
New Senate Bill ESHB 1087 - Running Start Funding Limits
Beginning with fall quarter 2011 Running Start students will have imposed funding limits that restrict the total number of classes they can take, tuition paid, through the Running Start program.
Please see the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges communication for more details.
The table below shows the funding limits and should be used by students to create their high school and college schedules.
If a student stays within the funding limits listed below they will not owe tuition on their college courses as long as those courses are over the 100 level. All students pay student fees, even for those classes within the funding limits.
The maximum number of credits any Running Start student can enroll in with tuition coverage is 15 credits if they are taking no classes or one class at the high school. If a student elects to take more than 15 credits they will pay full tuition on the additional credits.
