Multicultural and Student Programs Mission Statement

Multicultural and Student Programs is a learning environment that facilitates a network of peers for students who need academic and personal help by encouraging personal growth and civic mindedness while acting as a resource for diversity awareness and cultural sensitivity for students and staff.

MSP introduces students and staff at Olympic College to new ways of seeing by providing cultural and educational events, nationally-acclaimed speakers and a forum for honest intercultural interactions and discussion to supplement classroom learning at the college.

MSP helps the college retain students by reacting quickly and completely to the complex needs of students and recognizes the unique needs of underrepresented student populations.

Events offered by MSP encourage involvement in extra and co-curricular activities by providing campus-wide educational, cultural, social and recreational activities designed to enhance the college experience and encourage academic success.

Jodie Collins - Multicultural and Student Programs Supervisor
Email: jcollins@olympic.edu | Phone: 360-475-7682

After being born in Honolulu Hawaii, and growing up on the Big Island, Jodie started working with the Multicultural Center in 2002 as a part-time office assistant, 18 years after she moved to Bremerton. Students are the reason Jodie comes to work each day, she loves helping them and feeds off their energy. Since the fall quarter of 2012 Jodie has overseen the Multicultural Center and Student Programs. Even though her new responsibilities eat up a lot of her time, she still finds time to mentor students who want help or need guidance.

Anjelica “Jeli” Roxas - Program Coordinator

  Naoki Imoto - Office Assistant

Email: nimoto@olympic.edu

“Jeli” is an Olympic College alumna who was also born in Honolulu. She was 9 years old when her mother dressed her in long johns and long boots for their move from a tropical paradise to an exceedingly grey Pacific Northwest. Cloudy skies didn’t distract Anjelica from the beauty of Western Washington or keep her from laying down roots in her new home. After graduating from OC, Jeli worked in Silverdale and decided to apply for a part-time position at the Multicultural Center. When a position opened up she applied for a full-time position heading Student Programs.

Say hello to our student office assistant, Naoki "Binks" Imoto! Naoki is an international student from Osaka, Japan. He began attending school at Olympic College in 2011 where he has recently received his Associate's Degree in Arts and is planning on majoring in communication studies in the future. Naoki previously played baseball for Olympic College and is hoping to play for a nearby university in the next year.
