University of Washington Polynesian Day! The students of the Polynesian Student Alliance present their annual celebration of culture with "Poly Day 2012." A part of UW's Pacific Islander Heritage Days, this popular event showcases authentic music, dance, and regalia from the Polynesian islands. 10 students will be sponsored to attend. Please sign-up in the Multicultural Center.

Who are the indigenous people of Guam, Hawai'i, Tonga, and Samoa? Come build awareness of the history, culture, and contemporary healf of Pacific Islanders in the United States. discussion will emphasize social, economic, and cultural differences and similarities across Polynesian and Micronesian groups.

An authority on life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Scott wrote and starred in Ain't Got Long to Stay Here as a tribute to Dr. King and to teach a generation of students about one of America's most violent and inspiring times, and the man who literally changed the entire mation. Scott is so convincing in his portrayal of Dr. King, that Coretta Scott King once cornered him between acts of play to compliment him on his realistic and honest depiction of her late husband. Free Admission and open for the entire community.

How much do you know about the African American experience? Did it begin in 1619 at Jamestown? Did all African Americans arrive on the continent as slaves? Were African Americans a part of the American quest for indepence? Is the "Forty Acres and a Mule" premise a Spike Lee fallacy? Was February assigned as African American History Month because it was the shortest and coldest month of the year?

Hui Heihei Wa'a Gathering: Silverdale canoe club are looking for interested outrigger canoe paddlers for the upcoming season. For the past two years OC Recreation has sponsored students to participate. We have had a huge success and have brought back to OC first place trophies. If you are interested or someone you know might be interested in learning what it's all about then I encourage you to come to our gathering. Potluck Style!!!! Sponsorship include OC Student Services, Admissions and Outreach, Advising and Counseling, Polynesian Culture Club, and the PIONEER Program.
