|Daryl Schruhl begins his third year as the head men's and women's Track & Field coach for Olympic College. Schruhl also leads Olympic College's cross country programs in the fall. Formerly an assistant cross country coach at Olympic High School from 2002-2010, Schruhl was a driving force behind OC re-starting the men's cross country program and adding the women's cross country program. Graduating from East High School in 1971, he also served as the old East High School head coach in 1978. Schruhl, 57, is also a former runner and alumni of the men's cross country program that once existed at Olympic College before becoming extinct in the mid-1970's.|
In addition to his cross country coaching duties at Olympic High School, Schruhl also coached track and field for the Trojans. He still helps the Olympic High School track and field program out as an assistant coach. Coach Schruhl is successfully building the track & field program back up here at Olympic College. In its first year of existence, OC had an NWAACC champion when Jeremy Delicino won the 10,000 meter run at the NWAACC Championships last May.
Bob Summers starts his third year as an assistant coach with Daryl Schruhl and the Track & Field program. A long time track coach, Summers is a member of the Washington State Cross Country Hall of Fame.
Dan Dittmer will be helping out once more this spring with the Ranger Track and Field team. Coach Dittmer is certified as a Level II coach in distance, throws, and sprints/hurdles/relays from the USA Track and Field Association. He is also a certified USATF Level I coaching instructor. Dittmer is a Shelton High graduate where he was on the very first Shelton Highclimber cross country team. After graduation, he served in Europe and the Middle East as a US Navy Cryptology Technician (R). He received his AS degree from Olympic, a BA in Math from Central Washington University, and an MS in Sport's Pedagogy from Seattle Pacific University.
