Randy Lund has been named the new women's soccer coach. Lund was assistant coach under James Ritchie with the men's soccer program the past two seasons. He helped the team reach the NWAACC Championship game last fall.

Coach Lund is also currently Bremerton High School's head men's soccer coach; he took over duties in 2008. The Knights have won two straight Olympic League titles under his tutelage in 2010 and 2011. They have qualified for the West District III playoffs three straight years. Their playoff appearance in 2009 was the first at BHS since 1991. Lund has coached with Highline Premier Soccer Club, Crossfire Premier Soccer Club, Westsound Premier Soccer Club, Juanita High School, and at Bellevue Community College before he accepted the job at Bremerton. Lund has been the Olympic League Coach of the Year, and All-Kitsap County Coach of the Year in 2010.

Lund recieved his Bachelors degree from Central Washington University, majoring in Finance. He obtained his Masters degree from Seattle University in Economics. Lund teaches Micro and Macroeconomics classes at Olympic College as a adjunct faculty member.

Lund has his USSF National "D" and "C" licenses, and is a USSF National "B" Candidate. His playing days started with the WSYSA Lake Washington Royals. He graduated from Juanita High School in 1977, and went on to play at Bellevue Community College from 1978-79. Lund was a member of the Bellevue FC and Eastside FC clubs from the GSSL Premier League. He was an NWAACC 1st-Team all-league selection both years he played at Bellevue CC.

His program's philosophy centers around respect, character, teamwork, and personal responsibility, as well as teaching the physical, psychological, technical, and tactical skills associated with soccer. He is a strong believer in whole-person player development. Lund will be helping James Ritchie with the Kitsap Pumas FC this summer as an assistant coach.

Lund becomes the sixth coach in Olympic College women's soccer history. Here is the article in the Kitsap Sun about Lund's hiring. He is married to Shannon Lund and has two daughters, Isabela and Gabrielle. The Lund's reside in Silverdale, Wash.


Assistant Coach - Matt Friesen

Matt Friesen joins the Rangers soccer program for his second go-round in 2012. Friesen helped the Rangers as an assistant coach in 2010. Friesen just completed his first year as North Mason High School's men's soccer coach in 2011, and was award with the Olympic League Coach of the Year honors. The coach also completed his second year as the women's assistant coach at North Mason in 2011.

The Newberg High School (Ore.) graduate has his USSF National "D" License and has coached the Kitsap Pumas U-12 and U-10 academy teams.

Coach Friesen played at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash., graduating in 2007. While at Whitworth the midfielder received first team all Northwest Conference honors, was selected to the second team West Region, and helped the Pirates win the conference title three times. In 2005 Whitworth was a national semifinalist. In 2009 Friesen played in Belgium with the Royal Racing Football Club Montegnee which played in the fourth division Belgian Promotion D league.

He joined the Kitsap Pumas from 2009-2012 and was part of the PDL National Championship team in 2011. In 2010 he led the team in goals scored; he also scored the first two goals in team history in 2009 - the club's inaugural year. Friesen is single and lives in Bremerton, Wash.
