2013 - 2014 Season

(Thurs., 2/6/14 - OC Athletics.)
Rangers Fall to Everett
OC Men lost to Everett on Wednesday with a score of 66-80.  Cortavius Williams lead the Rangers with 18 points (73% from the field) and 11 rebounds on the night.  Basketball is back in action on Saturday as the host Shoreline College.  Women start at 2:00pm with the men to follow at 4:00pm.

Sedillo's Hot Hand Not Enough
The Men's Basketball team had two home losses this week falling to Edmonds on Wednesday and Skagit Valley on Saturday.  Idaho native, AJ Sedillo found his touch against the Tritons shooting 57% including five 3-pointers.

Men Go 0-2 this Week
OC Men hosted Whatcom on Wednesday and traveled to Peninsula on Saturday.  Although both games ended in a loss for the Rangers, their offensive game has greatly improved.  The Rangers are consistently lead by someone different game after game.  This week freshman Chaz Murray lead Rangers in scoring with a career high 25 points vs Peninsula.

Rangers Get First Win
OC Men's snapped a 12 game streak with their first win on Saturday at Shoreline.  The Rangers had four guys in double digits defeating the Dolphins 78-77.  When congratulated on the win, Coach Gurske stated, "It was all the players!"

Struggling in the North
Men's Basketball has two league games under the belt, but unfortunately two more losses as well falling to both Bellevue and Everett.  Cortavius Williams had a season high 20 points versus Bellevue to lead the squad. The Rangers will travel to Shoreline on Saturday for a shot at their first season win.

Men Lose Both in Walla Walla
OC Men traveled to Walla Walla, WA for their second and final crossover tournament of the season. The Rangers lostl to Grays Harbor on Saturday after narrowly capturing their first win on Friday falling to Umpqua 61-63.  OC begins league play this week as they host Bellevue on Saturday at 4pm.

Men Still Searching for a Win
The Ranger Men were in Bellevue for a tournament across regions this past weekend.  They faced Pierce on Friday and host team Bellevue on Saturday, dropping both.  OC is still on the hunt for their first season win going into a short week break before they head east to Walla Walla.  Friday's match-up against Umpqua begins OC's second crossover tournament of the season and last shot at a "W" before league play begins.

OC Lacking Offense; Fall to Titans
Men's Basketball was in action in Tacoma on Wednesday night.  The Rangers' struggled finding the hoop on offense and ended up falling to the Titans 37-80.

Rangers Struggle at Home
The Men's Basketball team hosted the East Region Knights of Wenatchee Valley on Saturday.  Cortavius Williams, a freshman from Louisiana, put up 13 points to lead the Rangers' offense.  The only returning starter, Chase Speelman, lead in rebounds with 8.  Neither proved to be enough as the Rangers fell to the Knights 57 - 66.  The team heads to Tacoma Wednesday in search of their first win.

Men Fight Hard Come Up Short
The Rangers hosted the perennial NWAACC contenders, Tacoma CC, on Wednesday night at the Bremer Student Gym.  The score was close the entire game but the Titans pulled away in the last few minutes to leave OC with their 4th loss on the season by a score of 57-65.

Young Squad Feeling Things Out
The Men's Basketball team has 3 games under the belt on the season so far, but yet to win one.  With only 1 starter returning and a new coach in Gurske, it may take some time to get all the kinks out.  The team has some time to regroup before they see Tacoma at home on the 4th of December.
