SOC Agreements
Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC) Agreements are degree plans customized for active duty military and family members. They do not lock students into a program of study or a financial commitment; they simply allow them to begin their degrees at Olympic College and complete them at other institutions if necessary without loss of credits.
SOC institutions also evaluate military training and education, CLEP, and DANTES for applicable college credits.
Initiating A SOC Agreement
Active duty service members and their families can initiate a SOC Agreement after completing at least 9 quarter credits (two classes at OC) or 6 semester credits at a single institution. Here's how:
- Discuss your education goals with an OC Mil Ed advisor.
- Complete the SOC Agreement Request form with an OC Mil Ed advisor.
- Submit the Request for Advance Standings form to request evaluation of your military education and training, prior college coursework and tests (CLEP, DANTES).
- Request official transcripts of your military training and education from your service branch training and development organization, and from each college/university you have attended . Have all transcripts sent to:
Registration and Records, Credentials Evaluator Olympic College 1600 Chester Avenue Bremerton, WA 98337-1699
SMART transcript request forms are available at the Navy College office on base or the SMART website . Note that each college has their own procedures and fees for ordering transcripts. Check each school’s website for further information.
