Parent Education Program Mission and Goal
The mission of the Olympic College Parent Education Program is to value parents as primary caregivers and teachers, whose main focus is to develop healthy family relationships. Our goal is to help parents strengthen family relationships, thereby strengthening the community as a whole. The program addresses five major areas of family and community life: child development, relationships, parenting skills, leadership, and community.
Parent Education Cooperative Preschools
Parents learn about child development and positive guidance from instructor, class discussions, or other activities. Topics are selected based on individual needs and ages of children. Parents are required to work as assistant teachers in the preschool lab 1 to 3 sessions per month. Prerequisite: Child must be enrolled in a participating preschool or childcare center. Continuous enrollment class.
- How often: Classes meet once-a-month for 3 hours
- Location: At a cooperative preschool site or a site chosen by the preschool group (see link to preschools at right)
- When: Usually in the evening 6:30 to 9:30 PM
- Cost: $24 per quarter and preschool lab tuition
