Costs

Required fees:

  • Application fee: $150 (It’s non-refundable, unless we cannot provide space)
  • Security Deposit: $150 (refundable if room is left in good condition with no damage)
  • Rent amount per month determined by unit chosen (Not included: phone, and food)
  • Stay for 10 months, 11th month free*

  • Triple Occupancy space is very limited
  • While rates are priced on a monthly basis per your chosen license, payments are usually made on a quarterly basis
  • *All published rates are based on a 10-month (3 Quarter) stay.  Residents who choose to stay longer, receive a lower monthly rate once they have resided in OC housing for 10 consecutive months.  Residents who stay with us for 10 months have paid for the 11th month and qualify for the 12 month at the lower rate.   

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 at the time of move in.  Students 17 years old who wish to live in the Residence Hall should contact the Residence Life Office.
  • Be a registered student at Olympic College enrolled in at least 12 quarter credits (one quarter a year can be taken off from taking classes without losing eligibility).

Application/Placement process

When complete application with $150 application fee is received, the received date is listed on the application.

Placements are made according to date application is submitted and application fee is received.

Placements are usually made one month before arrival date.  Roommates are subject to change, and we will inform you of such changes as soon as we can.

Apartments will be made up of a mix of international and US students. Please be aware that we will do our best to fit you with your room request, but we do not guarantee your first choices. Confirmation of room assignments will be sent out sometime in the month prior to your arrival. There is no refund of the $150 application fee unless we are not able to place you in a space OR if you are an international student and do not receive a Visa.

Homestay: For International Students

Homestay options (traditional or nontraditional) are available mainly in the Bremerton area.

Homestays with American host families offer an opportunity to experience a new culture while learning English. The cost for a traditional Homestay is $625 per month which includes a furnished bedroom and food for three meals per day. There is a non-refundable fee of $150 for this placement service. Please indicate on your application if you are requesting a Homestay placement.

 Minor (17 years old or younger) students who are not in our homestay program must live with a local guardian.

 How to apply

To request homestay accommodation while attending Olympic College, please follow these steps at least 30 days before the program start date on your I-20 form to allow us time to find a proper host family for you.

  1. Complete and submit the homestay application form. If you are 18 or older, you can submit online application here and skip to step 4. If you are 17 or younger, please use the download the application here.
  2. Complete and submit the Rules and Agreement Form for Minors and Alternative Accommodation Form with signatures of your parents or a legal guardian if you are 17 or younger.
  3. Prepare and submit a self-introduction letter to your homestay host and a recent photo, and submit with the homestay application. You can download the form here.
  4. Enclose a check or money order for $150 payable to Olympic College for the homestay application fee, or submit the Payment Authorization Form by mail or fax. (The homestay application fee is non-refundable.)
  5. Submit New Student Arrival Form (Winter 2015 Spring 2015) at least 3 weeks before your arrival date to guarantee airport pick up and to arrange a move-in date with your host family. Please see “New Student Arrival Information” for scheduled pick up dates.

Olympic College Host Family Information

We are looking for wonderful host families who enjoy cultural exchange and can provide safe, clean, and warm accommodation for Olympic College International Students. International Students learn American culture and improve their English skills through every day interaction with their host families. There are two options to choose from depending on your lifestyles. If you are interested, please follow the steps below.

1. Please read The Homestay Host Experience & Agreement

2. Submit Online Application Form. Or you can download the Host Family Application Form.

3. Submit Homestay Applicant Disclosure Form by mail or fax.

4. We will contact you for a home-visit appointment with all of family members or/and roommates once everyone is cleared from criminal background check.

Apartment Rental

Apartment Living:

  • Apartment living can provide privacy and independence.
  • Most American apartments come with basic appliances and fixtures; furniture may or may not be provided.
  • Apartment managers usually require a six month lease. Be sure to understand the terms before signing a lease.
  • Average rent for a one bedroom apartment is $600 to $900+ per month.
  • Rent usually does not include furniture and all utilities; electricity and phone often are paid in addition to rent.
