What do I need to know about summer quarter financial aid?
Students do not need to complete an additional application for summer, however, they will need to complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA and indicate they plan to attend the Summer 2012 Quarter.
Summer Quarter starts on July 2, 2012. We estimate it will take six (6) weeks, from the time all completed documents are received by the Financial Aid Office, to process your summer aid and have a check available on the first day of the summer quarter.
Students who completed their financial aid files by April 17, 2012 and plan to attend Summer 2012:
Students who completed their files by April 17 and indicated on the financial aid data sheet that they plan to attend the summer quarter have been awarded financial aid at full-time status. However, students who plan to attend less than full-time must complete the Enrollment Change Form with their correct enrollment status. This form is available under 2012-2013 forms. Failure to complete the Enrollment Change form for students in less than full-time credits will lead to delays in financial aid disbursement.
Students who complete their financial aid files by May 15, 2012 and plan to attend Summer 2012:
For the summer 2012 quarter, the Financial Aid Office is working to ensure that students who completed their files by May 15 will have their financial aid awarded by the first day of summer 2012 quarter.
However, given the current processing timeframe and when tution is due, applicants in this group must plan to pay for their tuition and fees on their own or seek alternate funding while their financial aid files are processed.
Textbook Bridge Loan
A Textbook Bridge Loan is available to students based on the nature of their financial aid. Applicants for the Textbook Bridge Loan can request application materials and eligibiity information at the Financial Aid Office. Loans will be made out in the form of a bookstore voucher to students who qualify on the first day of the Summer 2012 Quarter. Up to a maximum of $300 dollars maybe loaned to students.

Limited Financial Aid Services in summer months of June and August 2012:
Due to the high volume of applicants for financial aid for the 2012-2013 award year, the OC Financial Aid Office will be closed to the public for processing and limited services will be provided to clients at certain times during the month of June and August 2012. Below are the closure dates:
June 7, 2012 to June 15, 2012 (office closed for processing)
August 24, 2012 to August 31, 2012 (office closed for processing)
During these times, limited services will be provided at the Welcome Kiosk in the Humanities and Student Services Building during regular business hours. Be sure to check the Financial Aid Portal during this time because most questions can be answered by checking the portal.
