In each section the scholarships are listed in alphabetic sequence and include a brief description of the scholarship. LOCAL AREA SCHOLARSHIPS
Altrusa International Community Service Scholarship . The Altrusa International, Inc. of Kitsap County awards one Community Service Scholarship per year to a Kitsap County resident who has performed significant voluntary community service within the county. The scholarship is paid directly to the accredited institution for the upcoming Academic Year. Completed application packages must postmarked and submitted to the donor by May 23, 2008.
American Legion Post #149 Scholarship . This scholarship must be used at Olympic College and is awarded to the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a veteran, or to a veteran. Completed applications and supporting information must be mailed to the donor no later than March 31 of each year.
Art Morken Memorial Administration of Justice Scholarship . This scholarship is awarded to an Olympic College student pursuing a degree in Administration of Justice (ATA or AAS transfer). Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Bernie Berkimer Scholarship . This is a partial scholarship awarded to any student pursuing a degree in an occupational or education field. Financial need, character, and motivation are considered when awarding this scholarship. Completed Application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Bremerton Elks 1181 Scholarship . This scholarship is limited to two-year Associate degree, or under two-year Certificate programs. Students planning to pursue an Associate degree course of instruction which is a stepping stone to a four-year Bachelor's degree program are NOT eligible for this scholarship. Two awards will be given each year, one each to a male and female student. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Bruce Laurie Memorial Scholarship, Federal Managers Association . This tuition scholarship is given to a dependent or employee of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard or Tenant Activity. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by May 15 of each year.
Captain Donald and Helen Ross Memorial Nursing Scholarship . This is a partial tuition scholarship based on academic achievement and financial need and is awarded to a second year Olympic College Nursing student. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by June 25 of each year.
Charles Gale Masonic Memorial Scholarship, William H. Upton Naval and Military Lodge #206 . Available to full time Olympic College students that are entering their sophomore year of college study. The completed donor application package must be received by the donor no later than May 16, 2007.
Craig Helmholz Scholarship, South Kitsap Fire & Rescue Volunteer Association . This $1,000 scholarship is available to applicants who reside within the South Kitsap Fire & Rescue department boundaries. Charles Gale Masonic Memorial Scholarship, William H. Upton Naval & Military Lodge #206. Students applying for this scholarship must be enrolled as full time students at Olympic College, and must be entering their sophomore year of college study. One scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded annually. Completed application packages must be received by the donor by May 20 of each year. No updated information is available at this time.
Daughters of the American Revolution, Elizabeth Ellington Chapter . Several tuition scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students from the Olympic College geographic area, and for Olympic College continuing students. An additional scholarship is available to a Native American student. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha Sigma Chapter, Education Scholarship . One tuition scholarship for a second year Olympic College female student pursuing an education major. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by MAY 18, 2007.
Earth Science, Kitsap Mineral and Gem Society . The Kitsap Mineral and Gem Society awards one $1,000 scholarship each year to a high school senior or college student interested in Earth Science; involved in Earth Science; or planning to establish a career in Earth Science. Scholarship application packages are due by April 1st of the year of need.
Eastern Washington University Scholarship Application . Eastern Washington University awards over $1.5 million in scholarships to nearly 1000 students each school year. You may apply for the majority of these awards through the Eastern Scholarship Application on line application. To be considered, the complete application packet must be postmarked on or before February 1 for the following academic year
High School Mid-year Graduate Scholarship. Multiple scholarships will be awarded for the Spring 2008 quarter ONLY. Applicants must be a High school senior that is graduating at the 2007-2008 academic mid-year point. Applicants must have completed the Olympic College Admissions process; must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or equivalent; must provide a one page letter describing personal and academic goals and accomplishments; and must provide one letter of recommendation from a non-relative (preferably from an instructor or administrator from his/her high school, or from an employer). This is a tuition and fee scholarship, and will cover tuition and fees up to 18 credits for the Spring 2008 quarter (fees do not include expenses associated with placement testing, books, supplies, transportation, etc.). Recipients must register as a full time student (12-18 credits) at Olympic College for the Spring 2008 quarter. All scholarship application packages must be received in the Olympic College Financial Aid Office by February 15, 2008.
Irene Lent Nursing Scholarship . This is a partial tuition scholarship for students accepted into the first or second year Olympic College Nursing Program. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by July 31 of each year.
Kiwanis-Bennett Memorial Scholarship . This scholarship is granted to assist in tuition expenses without limitation to age, sex, race, creed, or national origin. Candidates must reside, or have graduated from a North Mason or Kitsap County high school, or be attending or planning to attend Olympic College. Interested individuals must submit the donor application and required support documents directly to the donor in early March of each year.
Ladies of the Elks Scholarship . At least one scholarship will be awarded to a woman 25 years of age or older who has a definite plan to use the desired training to enter or reenter the job market, improve her chances for advancement, or to train for a new career field. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 30 of each year.
Laura E. Sullivan - CSTOCK Memorial Scholarship(Acting) . The Laura E. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship generally award multiple scholarships to actors or actresses. Completed application packages must be submitted to the donor by April 1 of each year.
Lorraine Carter Memorial Scholarship . This scholarship is for local women seeking higher education and is granted to assist in tuition and other necessary expenses. Completed application packages must be received in Office of Student Financial Aid Office by May 12, 2008.
Mason County Optimist Scholarship . "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" - This scholarship is available to Mason County high school students graduating in the 2008 academic year and planning to attend Olympic College during the 2008/2009 academic year. Up to four $500 scholarships may be awarded. All scholarship applications must be mailed to the address provided by May 15, 2008.
Mason County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship . This scholarship is a partial scholarship for a Mason County student attending or planning to attend the Olympic College Shelton Campus only. All applications and support documents must be received in the Olympic College Shelton Campus Administration Office by March 31 of each year.
Members of Washington Veterans' Home . This scholarship is for South Kitsap High School graduates that are enrolled in and pursuing a Nursing degree at Olympic College. The Members of Washington Veterans' Home generally award two scholarships per year. All applications and support documents must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Merrill Wallace Scholarship, Kitsap County Bar Association. The Merrill Wallace Scholarship awards are for two qualified students to attend Olympic College full time for 3 quarters at up to 16 credits hours per quarter for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2008, Winter 2009, and Spring 2009 quarters). These awards include the entire tuition, but do not include any fees, books, or supplies. Please see the attached information sheet for application materials and due dates. All applications must be sent directly to donor.
Miss Poulsbo and Miss Kitsap Scholarship Program . Applications are now closed for the 2008 Miss Poulsbo/Miss Kitsap Scholarship Pageant. Applications for the 2009 pageant will be available in April 2008.
Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Scholarship . Two scholarships are offered to eligible children of NUWC Division Keyport civil service employees or active duty military personnel that work at the NUWC Keyport facility. One scholarship provides financial assistance for students pursuing education beyond high school in any field of study, and the E. H. Lesinski Scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing an engineering or scientific degree. All applications must be postmarked or received by the donor no later than April 8 of each year and are awarded in July of each year.
Olympic College Scholarship Program . Various scholarships are provided to Olympic College annually for distribution to deserving students. Olympic College will form a scholarship committee to award these scholarships to worthy students attending the college. All applications and support documents must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Olympic College Scholastic Excellence Award .
P.E.O Sisterhood Scholarship . The P.E.O. Scholarship is available to a female student in her second year (45+ credits earned) of study at the end of the Spring quarter and has a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Financial Need will be considered for this award and two recommendations are required. Applications must be submitted to the OC Financial Aid Office by March 15 of each year and are to be awarded for the next academic year.
Port Orchard Business and Professional Women's Club . This scholarship is available to Port Orchard women age 25 and older pursuing higher education at Olympic College. Completed application packages must be received in our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year.
Ray Abundis - CSTOCK Musicians / Dance / Technical Support Scholarship . The Ray Abundis Scholarship will award one scholarship to a musician or technical support person. Completed application packages must be submitted to the donor by April 1of each year.
Red Brown Memorial Scholarship - Kitsap Bremerton Athletic Roundtable . This scholarship is awarded to an Olympic College female student from the Kitsap, Mason, or Jefferson County area. Completed application packages must be received by the donor not later than May 31 of each year.
Robert B. Stewart Memorial Scholarship . Multiple full and partial scholarships (tuition, fees, and books) awarded to Olympic College students pursuing a degree in Economics/Business (particularly INvesting and Finance), Nursing, Science, Engineering, and Mathematics. This scholarship is available for two successive years. Recipients must attend Olympic College. High School applicants are eligible.
Ruth Murphy Evans, Greater Tacoma Community Foundation . Two scholarships are awarded to students who will be enrolled in the Nursing program at Olympic College during the next fall term. Applicants may be in either the LPN or RN program. Each award is for $2,000 for one academic year. All applications and support documents must be received in our Financial Aid Office by May 31 of each year.
Sherry Cole Memorial Scholarship . This scholarship is for women in transition and will be awarded to a women 25 years of age or older who has a definite plan to use the desired training to enter or reenter the job market, improve her chances for advancement, or train for a new career field. Application packages must be received by the donor by February 15 of each year.
Soroptimists of Greater Bremerton. The Soroptimists of Greater Bremerton offer a limited number of scholarships to women residing in the Bremerton and Silverdale area. Scholarship funds may be used for education and training related expenses, such as tuition, fees, books, supplies, uniforms, or equipment required for training. In certain cases; funds my be used to purchase work or interview clothing.
West Sound Arts Council - Creative Writing Scholarship . This scholarship is awarded to a gifted graduating high school senior or continuing college student pursuing further education in the field of creative writing. Application materials must be received by the donor prior to April 1 of each year.
West Sound Arts Council - Dramatic/Theater Arts Scholarship . This scholarship is awarded to a gifted high school graduating senior or continuing college student pursuing further education in the field of dramatic theater arts. Application materials must be received by the donor prior to April 1 of each year.
West Sound Arts Council - Music/Vocal Scholarship . This scholarship is awarded to a musically gifted graduating high school senior or continuing college student pursuing further education in the field of music and voice. Application materials must be received by the donor prior to April 1 of each year.
West Sound Arts Council - Tony White Memorial Scholarship for Visual Arts and Design . This scholarship is awarded to a artistically gifted graduating high school senior or continuing college student pursuing further education in the field of visual arts and design. Application materials must be received by the donor prior to April 1 of each year.
STATE WIDE SCHOLARSHIPS
AES Engineering Scholarship Program . The purpose of this scholarship is to motivate students and to help in the furthering of their education. Scholarship Criteria: Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. American Indian Endowed Scholarships . The American Indian Endowed Scholarship helps financially needy students with close social and cultural ties to a Native American community to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies. Students can use the scholarships at public two- and four-year colleges and universities and accredited independent colleges, universities and career schools in Washington. College Success Foundation (CSF) and the Governor's Scholarship Program . The mission of the College Success Foundation scholarship programs is to assist high-potential, low-income scholars in attending the Washington college or university of their choice, and to complete four-year baccalaureate degrees. The CSF is responsible for the selection of all scholars and the determination of the award amount. All scholars are required to enroll on a full-time basis.
Between twenty and thirty Governors Scholarship recipients are selected each year. Scholarships are expected to range between $1000 and $5000 per year, and will vary depending upon each recipient's financial need. Scholarships can be renewed for up to four additional years, until completion of the student's program of study for full-time students meeting satisfactory academic progress. Nancy Garcia Schlenz Memorial Scholarship . The Nancy Garcia Schlenz Memorial Scholarship is designed to assist current college students and those wanting to return to college that are of Hispanic heritage as they pursue a higher education. This is a competitive scholarship and is open to any student who is enrolled no less than part time at an accredited college.
Pride Foundation and Greater Seattle Business Association Scholarships . The Pride Foundation and Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) have over $350,000 in scholarships available for lesbian, gay, bisexual, Transgender, questioning, and straight-ally straight and supportive of LGBTQ issues) students of all ages, as well as students from LGBT families. There are over 40 different types of scholarships available with awards up to $10,000 - but only one application to complete. R. H. Thomson Memorial Scholarship. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Seattle Section offers an annual scholarship of $5,000. Applications are mailed to the ASCE Scholarship committee and must be postmarked by February 29, 2008. Announcement of the scholarship recipient will be made by May 1, 2008. Ronald McDonald House Scholarship . Currently enrolled high school seniors who are eligible to attend a two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school. Applicants must be legal U.S. residents, be less than 21 years of age, and reside within the geographic boundaries of a participating Ronald McDonald House chapter that offers scholarships. Application deadline is February 15, 2008.
Take Aim Scholarships Program . This scholarship program is an initiative of Northwest Education Loan Association (NELA) and is provided to assist high-potential students that are enrolled in Washington community and technical colleges, and have financial need in completing their bachelor's degrees. University of Washington, Tacoma - Next Step Scholars . The University of Washington (UWT), Tacoma Next Step Scholars endowment recognizes and awards exceptional scholastic achievement at the community college level. The fund annually awards one Olympic College student a scholarship that includes a full tuition and fee remission for two years, and a book and supply allowance for the same two year period. Information of the scholarship application packages must be received in the Olympic College Financial Aid Office by Mach 1st of each year. Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE) Scholarship . WAVE scholarships are awarded annually by the Washington State Workforce Training and Education Board (WTECB) to students that are pursuing a vocational or technical degree, and are currently a state resident enrolled in a Washington State high school, skill center, or public community or technical college. Three Wave recipients (two from high schools/skill centers and one from community/technical colleges) are chosen from each of the state's 49 legislative districts. Washington Financial Aid Association (WFAA) Ethnic Awareness Committee . This scholarship is for a student of color to attend a WFAA member college/university. Eligibility based on academic promise and leadership ability; priority given to student with need. This scholarship is privately funded. Washington Higher Education Coordinating Board, Educational Opportunity Grant . The Educational Opportunity Grant program provides $2,500 annual grants to encourage financially needy, placebound students to complete a bachelor's degree. To be considered placebound, students must be unable to continue their education – without the assistance of this grant – due to family or work commitments, health concerns, financial need or other similar factors. Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium Scholarships . The Washington NASA Space Grant Community College Transfer Scholarships are awarded to promising community college students planning to transfer to the University of Washington to continue their studies in engineering, math or science. These competitive scholarships are based on academic achievement, personal essays, recommendations and future academic promise. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000, and are awarded for one year at a time. View the donor website for application information and deadline date.
Washington Society of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Foundation Scholarships . Each year, the Washington CPA Foundation, through the Washington Society of CPAs, along with many of its 15 chapters, offer tuition scholarships to accounting students, ranging from $500 to $3,000 each. Most chapter scholarships ask that you either live in or are attending school in their geographic area, while the state scholarships ask that you've had at least two terms of accounting courses at the college level at the time of application. Washington State Elks Association Vocational Grant Program . Open to high school and general education students receiving a diploma or certificate during the current program year. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States on the date the application is filed and must be seeking an educational course culminating in an Associate Degree, Diploma, or Certificate. Course of training must not exceed two years. Applications must be filed with the Elks Lodge having jurisdiction in the area of the applicant's legal residence. Washington State Health Professional Scholarship Program . The purpose of the Health Professional Scholarship Program is to provide scholarships to students training to be primary care health professionals. First priority for the 2006-2007 academic year program funds will be given to those applicants enrolled in undergraduate nursing programs who demonstrate a commitment to rural communities and underserved populations. NATION WIDE SCHOLARSHIPS
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program . To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on one of the following two topics below. What is your opinion of personal injury lawyers? In less than 1000 words, discuss your views on personal injury lawyers and explain how these views may have been affected by the media. Or, Are we ready to respond with disaster relief? In less than 1000 words, discuss your views on how well the United States government agencies are prepared to respond to the next call for disaster relief. American Association of University Women . One of the world's largest sources of funding exclusively for women, the AAUW Educational Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented. Applications for the 2006/2007 academic year are now online. Please refer to each program for application details, eligibility requirements and deadlines.
Asian and Pacific Islander American Student Scholarship . The Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is a new national organization devoted solely to the financial scholarship needs of Asian and Pacific Islander American students. Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation . Olympic College may nominate two students for this scholarship program. Nominees may be first or second year students planning on continuing their education at Olympic College. Scholarship applications will be available on the donor website beginning March 1, 2006, and must be submitted to our Financial Aid Office by March 31 of each year. All applicants will need to document at least 100 hours of community service, and will need to be nominated for the scholarship by an Olympic College Faculty or Administrative Staff member, and must include a letter of recommendation from their Olympic College sponsor in their application package.
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarships and Grants . The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is a private, independent foundation that awards approximately 650 scholarships and grants per year. Some scholarship awards can be as much as $50,000 per year and the application process is both extensive and very competitive. Scholarship application materials and information is available on the donor website. To be considered for this award, all application materials must be received by the OC Financial Aid Office by 4:00 p.m. on January 10, 2008.
Hispanic College Fund . The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) awards scholarships based on both merit and financial need. HCF administers multiple scholarship programs including the Sallie Mae Fund's First in My Family Scholarship Program and the ALPFA Scholarship Program. Military Children Scholarship Program . The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created to recognize the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community. If your mother or father is active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military personnel or you are the survivor of a deceased member, and you have a military dependent ID card you can apply! You must be planning to attend a college or university on a full-time basis. Visit the donor website for updated scholarship information and deadline dates.
Morris K. Udall Foundation Scholarship . This scholarship is for students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment, or to Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy, or to Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Children of Deceased Service Members . The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society provides various educational assistance programs to the children of deceased service members. Visit the donor website for updated scholarship information and deadline dates.
Vice Admiral E. P. Travers Scholarship and Loan Program . This scholarship and loan program is for children and/or spouses of Active Duty Sailors and Marines, or for children of retired Sailors and Marines. A Travers Scholarship provides a student with a grant of up to $2,000 per academic year, and a Travers Interest Free Loan can provide the sponsors of an eligible student with up to $3,000 (for an academic year).
