Office of Student Financial Aid
Providing Dollars for OC Students
Do I need to repay all or part of my financial aid if I withdraw or do not complete my classes?
Yes. There are different but similar regulations governing what aid you have earned. The U.S. Department of Education requires the college to calculate a repayment of financial aid received for any student that withdraws from or stops attending all classes before 60% of the quarter. The policy is know as the Return of Title IV Policy.
If you stop attending all classes before the date listed for each of the following terms you will be subject to repayment regulations and be required to repay an amount calculated by Olympic College's Financial Aid Office.
- Summer Quarter 2012: August 2, 2012
- Fall Quarter 2012: November 13, 2012
- Winter Quarter 2013: February 20, 2013
- Spring Quarter 2013: May 14, 2013
- Summer Quarter 2013: August 1, 2013
- Fall Quarter 2013: November 12, 2013
- Winter Quarter 2014: February 19, 2014
- Spring Quarter 2014: May 13, 2014
The state requires us to recalculate aid for students who drop out or stop attending classes before 50% of the quarter. If you must withdraw from or stop attending all classes for which you have registered, please follow the Olympic College Registration Office procedures to officially withdraw from classes.
You may officially withdraw by submitting an Add/Drop form to the Registration and Records Office, or online through OASIS.
What if I don't attend my classes?
If you accept financial aid funds and do not attend one or more of your classes you will be responsible for repayment of any aid funds received for the class or classes you did not attend. Any future aid you have in place may be subject to full cancelation.
Contact the Financial Aid Office for details on how this regulation affects you. We may be able to advise on how you can eliminate or reduce your repayment obligation. Click on the links below for more details about the federal and state repayment policies:
