Financial Aid Status

Please read all the information below before checking your Financial Aid Status Online!  

At present, it takes a minimum of six (6) weeks to process an award from the file completion date i.e., the date all required documents are received by the Financial Aid Office.  You can check the APPLICATION STATUS in the FAM portal to determine whether your file is complete.  Note that these messages may change.  Below are some of the APPLICATION STATUS messages and what they mean.     

APPLICATION STATUS:

• Once all required documents are received, students will have a message posted on the FAM Portal that file is ready for review and processing.  After review, additional documents may be required in order to complete the file which may change the original message.  Below are some messages that may be posted on a student's FAM Portal and what they mean:

 1.  FILE READY FOR REVIEW AND PROCESSING AS OF DATE RECEIVED:  Shows file completion date
 
  2.  ELIGIBLE FOR LOAN ONLY. SEPARATE APPLICATION REQUIRED:  Student qualifies for loans only

  3.  AID CANCELLED DUE TO NOT MEETING SAP:  Student will need to reintate self, petition, or appeal.

  4.  AID SUSPENDED. EXCEEDED MAXIMUM TIMEFRAME FOR CURRENT PROGRAM:  Petition for aid.

  5.  AWARDED:  The student is now awarded financial aid and amounts can be viewed on the portal

  6.  OTHER MESSAGES:  Other messages may be updated to the APPLICATION STATUS in the portal  

• If additional documents are required, the FILE COMPLETION DATE may change to reflect the date when all required and additional documents are received by the Financial Aid Office

HOLD LIST:

Please check the portal to see if you have been placed on the HOLD LIST.  If you are on the HOLD LIST, below is additional information:

• You were put on the HOLD List because you have extenuating circumstances that requires the Financial Aid Office to make some exceptions on your behalf regarding the holding of your classes from been dropped
• The HOLD LIST will prevent you from losing any classes you are currently registered for
• You are not guaranteed financial aid funding if you are on the HOLD LIST
• You will stay on the HOLD LIST the end of the first week of the quarter; at this time, you will be notified if you have financial aid through the Financial Aid Portal.  If you don't have an award by this date either in offered or accepted status, then to keep you classes, you must pay for your classes while your financial aid is processed.

AWARD STATUS:

• OFFERED AWARDS:  This means that your award is preliminary pending final validation.  
• ACCEPTED AWARDS:  This means that your award has been validated and accepted for disbursement at the next schedule disbursement date

LOG IN

To log in to the Student Financial Aid Portal you will need your Social Security Number (no dashes) and your Global PIN from OASIS. Your initial Global PIN will be your birth date (mmddyy) with no 0 (zero) before the month, if applicable. 

In summary enter it in MMDDYY format without a leading zero. For example, a student born on January 9, 1985, will have to enter 10985.

Note: Students can change their Global PINs in OASIS. However, it will not update for the Financial Aid Portal until that evening when the synchronization job runs to match the Global PIN to Financial Aid Portal Password. New Global PIN must be at least 5 digits.

What you can see in the Portal: 

• Documents you have turned in or need to turn in.
• Messages from our office
• Awards you have been offered
• Loan disbursements made
