Criminal Justice
The program mission is to provide a solid academic and practical background for students who are seeking employment within the criminal justice field. Instruction includes criminal law, juvenile delinquency issues, investigation techniques, courts and corrections, police patrol and operations, police administration, criminology, and psychology of criminal behavior.
At the end of the program, successful students will be able to:
- Successfully compete for entry-level jobs in the criminal justice system.
- Apply criminology theories to current day policy and practice.
- Given a variety of situations or simulations, resolve conflict.
- Recognize cultural differences and how those differences impact decisions.
- Given a variety of case studies or simulations, demonstrate behaviors and make decisions that reflect high ethical criminal justice standards.
- Given a variety of case studies or simulations, apply the criminal laws as a criminal justice worker.
