Accounting Technology

The Olympic College Accounting Technology program is designed to prepare students for employment in public accounting, private accounting, and in governmental and not-for-profit agencies. This program also provides an excellent basis for obtaining living-wage employment while engaging in further accounting or business studies.


At the end of the program, successful students will be able to:

  • Effectively apply components of the accounting equation to typical business transactions.
  • Maintain and evaluate internal control procedures.
  • Analyze financial information and statements in order to make sound business decisions.
  • Effectively use a variety of computer software to accomplish office tasks and to process accounting information.
  • Apply mathematical concepts to typical business situations.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing in the context of common business practices.
  • Work as a team member in an office environment to accomplish the goals of the organization.
  • Understand and use accounting and business terminology to produce reports, converse in a business-type setting and follow directions.
