Class Arachnida – Includes spiders, mites, ticks, and scorpions. These animals breathe with book lungs, tracheae, or both. Most have a heart, have simple eyes, and sexes are separate with complicated mating rituals. The common name “tarantula” is actually a misnomer derived from the scientific name of a European wolf spider, Lycosa tarantula.

Science Lending Library Application | Science Lending Library Flyer 

The services of the Science Lending Library are available free of charge to Olympic College (OC) students requiring economic assistance in obtaining certain science textbooks. Due to a limited number of textbooks, priority is given to students who demonstrate the highest need for assistance and who plan on completing science related degrees, though all OC students enrolled in science courses are allowed to apply (proof of enrollment required upon approval).

Please note that applications are NOT processed on a first come/first served basis. Applications may be turned into the MESH Division Office in the Science & Technology, room 103. The APPLICATION DEADLINE is the FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EVERY QUARTER by 3:00 p.m. Applicants are notified of approval status by email and telephone that day.

Textbooks are checked out the first week of the academic quarter and returned by the last day of the quarter. If the textbook is not returned, the student’s academic transcripts will be held and a registration block will be placed until the textbook or cost of the textbook is recovered.

Testing Times in ST 106, by appointment only:

  • Tues. - 9-11 a.m.
  • Wed. - 1-3 p.m.
  • Thurs. - 3-5 p.m.

Testing is offered in the Science & Technology Building in room ST 106. Go to the MESH division office to make your appointment or contact Karen Osborn, 360-475-6830 for scheduling a time. The tests are free. Please bring a pencil, calculator and scratch paper.
